What a fractional CTO actually does in the first 90 days

Most teams do not need a part-time executive title. They need execution, sequencing, and technical clarity in places where momentum is blocked.

The first 90 days usually look like this:

• Days 1-15: map delivery constraints, architecture risk, and decision bottlenecks.
• Days 16-45: reset roadmap around one or two measurable outcomes.
• Days 46-90: install operating cadence for hiring, release confidence, and technical ownership.

By the end of that cycle, your team should be shipping faster with fewer escalation loops and less ambiguity.
